The problem

What we were solving for.

Grow Asia serves as connective tissue between farmers, agribusinesses, governments, and development organisations across Southeast Asia. The old site was information-dense and hard to navigate — critical research and program information was buried behind three or four clicks, and the audience was too distributed and non-technical to survive that.

The team needed a site that presented substantial content (research reports, country programs, partnership stories) with editorial clarity — where a farmer in Vietnam, a policymaker in Manila, and an agribusiness executive in Singapore could all find what they needed within one or two clicks, in a design language that felt appropriate for a multilateral partnership.

The publishing cadence was also high. Research and country updates ship regularly. The old site required engineering support for every publish. The new site had to move that authority to non-technical editors.

The approach

How we built it.

We built a content-first architecture around three primary pillars: Research, Programs, Stories. Every content type has its own structured schema in the CMS so editors don't wrestle with rich text for structured information. Country pages aggregate research, programs, and stories filtered by country automatically — the aggregation is data-driven, not manually maintained.

The design language is deliberately calm and editorial. Photography from partner countries drives visual identity. Typography is chosen for legibility across the regional English variants Grow Asia's audience uses. Nothing shouts, because the content itself is substantive enough to hold attention.

Publishing runs entirely through the CMS. Editors create research, tag it by country/topic, choose whether to feature it, and the site regenerates. No developer touch required.
