Personal injury is one of the most saturated legal marketing verticals in the US. Google Ads for "car accident lawyer" runs $200+ per click in Houston, Dallas, Miami, and Los Angeles. If you are paying that per visitor, your website has to convert dramatically better than the average PI site.
After auditing dozens of high-performing PI websites over the past three years, seven features come up on every one that consistently converts paid traffic into signed cases.
1. Case results, prominent and specific
Not "millions recovered for our clients." Actual numbers, actual case types, actual counties, actual outcomes:
$3.2M — 18-wheeler collision, Harris County, TBI $850K — Rideshare pedestrian injury, Fort Bend County, spinal surgery
Six to twelve specific results on the home page do more for conversion than any amount of testimonial copy. Bar rules require accompanying disclaimers ("Prior results do not guarantee similar outcomes") — include them, but do not hide the results themselves.
2. Instant-response intake — booking + phone + WhatsApp
PI leads are unusually time-sensitive. A client who just left the ER has hours, not days, before they sign with the next firm.
- Booking system on the home page for scheduled consultations. See the booking system playbook.
- Click-to-call phone number in the sticky header.
- WhatsApp or SMS as a third option, for clients who cannot talk on the phone (in the hospital, at work, etc.).
Firms that offer only a contact form lose the majority of PI intake to firms that offer three response channels.
3. Video from the attorney
A 90-second video of the lead attorney on the home page — introducing themselves, their practice, their approach to injury cases — converts materially better than text alone. It answers the prospect's silent question: "Who am I actually going to be talking to?"
Production does not need to be expensive. A phone camera on a tripod, natural window light, a lav mic, and honest delivery beats a professionally shot video with stiff scripting.
4. Bilingual pages (in most PI markets)
In Texas, Florida, California, and much of the Southwest, bilingual English/Spanish coverage is table stakes for PI. Spanish-first accident victims are actively searching for "abogado de accidentes" and picking firms that meet them in their language.
5. Clear no-fee commitment
Every PI page should carry the words "No fee unless we win" or the state-specific equivalent, prominently. The single biggest objection a PI prospect has is "I can't afford a lawyer right now." Neutralize it in the first 10 seconds.
Bar rules vary on the exact wording — check your state. But do not make prospects hunt for your contingency structure.
6. Fast, mobile-first pages
70%+ of PI intake happens on mobile, often minutes after the injury. If your site takes 6 seconds to load on 4G in a hospital parking lot, you have lost the client. Every PI site we build passes Google's Core Web Vitals with room to spare — see the website mistakes article for the specific fixes.
7. Trust signals: bar admissions, associations, media mentions
PI is one of the most trust-sensitive legal categories. The home page should carry:
- State bar admission with year
- Board certifications (if any)
- Trial lawyer association memberships (state trial lawyers, million-dollar advocates forum, etc.)
- Press mentions and media appearances
- Verified review count with average rating
A row of logos and numbers above the fold answers the question "Are these people real?" before the prospect has to ask.
Bonus: what to leave off
- Gavel-and-scale stock imagery
- Latin phrases (ipso facto, habeas corpus) in body copy
- "Aggressive representation" clichés
- Sliders and carousels (they hurt LCP scores and nobody clicks past the first slide)
- Long generic bio paragraphs — replace with attorney video and case results
The math
A PI firm running Google Ads at $150 per click typically converts about 3–5% of clicks into consultations, and about 30–40% of consultations into signed cases. Every 1% improvement in conversion at either stage is real revenue.
The features above have moved conversion 30–60% on the firms we have rebuilt in the past two years. If you are running paid traffic to a website that is not built for it, you are subsidizing your competitors.
